Trekking in Bulgaria


Bulgaria is one of the few countries in Europe with very well preserved nature with 3 National parks, 9 Nature parks an many reserves (2 of them included in the UNESCO list).
There are eco- trails, which run through the protected areas and show unique nature wonders. Everyone has a chance to observe the rich flora and fauna in their natural habitat.More than 2/3 of the territory of Bulgaria is mountain ranges within very close proximity. The highest peak in Southeast Europe - Mt. Mussala (2925m.) rises in the Rila Montains. A hike in the great pine woods of the Rodopi Mountains will meet you with astonishing nature phenomenon, forgotten and abandon villages, living traditions and crafts.

The landscape of the mountains is various - rocky ridges, peaks and rocky needles are separated by deep valleys
covered with venerable forests and colorful meadows. Particularly beautiful are the numerous lakes situated in the high parts of Rila and Pirin. Moreover the tourists get the chance to visit some of the most interesting cultural and historical places in Bulgaria as Rila monastery, the old town of Plovdiv, the old architecture style houses in the town of Bansko ect.
Trekking in Rodopi, Pirin and Rila Mountais
Day 1

Arrival to Sofia. Transfer to the city of Plovdiv. A short sightseeing of The Old town. Accommodation, dinner and overnight.
Day 2
Visit the Monastery of Bachkovo. Transfer to Chudnite mostove chalet. Walking through the i mountains to the village of Zabardo approx. 4 hours. Transfer to Pamporovo resort. Accommodation. Dinner and overnight.
Day 3
Transfer to the village of Stoikite. Walking tour to the museum town of Shiroka Luka via the picturesque village of Gela, approx. 4 hours. Back to Pamporovo with a stopover in the town of Smolian. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4
Transfer to the village of Teshel. Walking tour to Yagodina cave - one of the longest and most beautiful caves in the country. Sightseeing of Djavolskoto garlo cave (Devil’s throat cave) and Buinovo gorge. Along the way you will enjoy the alternating scenes of high rocks, swift-flowing rivers, infinite meadows and centuries-old fir-groves. Duration – approx. 5 hours. Transfer to the town of Devin. Accommodation. Dinner and Overnight.
Day 5
Transfer to the museum town of Bansko. Accommodation. Sightseeing.
Dinner with folklore show. Overnight.

Day 6
Transfer to Gotze Delchev chalet near the small town of Dobrinishte. Acsent to the Bezbog chalet (2240 m) by a chair lift. Trekking to the lake Popovo ezero (2270m) - the biggest and deepest in Pirin (30m). Along the way the tourists will enjoy the high mountain landscape. Duration - approx. 5 hours. Back tho the lift station. Transfer to Bansko. Dinner and overnight.
Day 7
Transfer to Vihren chalet (1950m). Hiking to Todorka pass (2530m), Todorini lakes, Vasilashki lakes, Demyanitsa Hut (1895m). Duration – 6 hours. Transfer back to Bansko. Dinner and overnight.

Day 8
Transfer to Vihren hut (1950 m). Hiking to Vihren peak (2915 m) - Kazanite place – Bunderitza hut (1800m). Duration - 6 hours. Transfer back to Bansko. Dinner and overnight.
Day 9
Transfer to Borovets resort. This is the start of your Rila-adventure. Accommodation. Dinner and overnight.
Day 10
Acsent to Yastrebetz peak (2369m) by cabin lift. Hiking to Mousala pick (2925 m) – the highest on Balkan peninsula. Duration – 7 h. Back to Borovets. Dinner and overnight.

Day 11
Transfer to Vada hut (1410 m). Hiking to the Seven Lakes chalet /2150 m/. Back to Vada hut and Borovets. Duration - 7 h. Dinner and overnight.
Day 12
Transfer to Maliovitza hotel. Hiking to Maliovitza chalet – Maliovitza pick (2729m). After a short break for snack and taking photos starts your steep and extreme descenting to The Rila monastery along the Drushliavitsa river. Accommodation. Dinner and overnight.
Day 13
Sightseeing of the monastery complex. Transfer to Sofia for the departure flight.
